Education has always been an important strategic factor in the development of the country.Talent cultivation plays an important role in the current international competitive environment.The growth of young people is closely related to the development of the motherland.The future of the motherland rests on the younger generation.Therefore,the education of young people should be given enough attention.Different from traditional schools,which are solely responsible for student education,more and more studies have proved the importance of parental participation in student education.If parents can scientifically intervene in student education,it is not only a matter of student's academic achievement.Achievements,emotional exchanges between parents and children,and the development of school education will all be helpful.Many scholars at home and abroad have studied the influence of parents participating in students' academic education,but have not reached a universal and consistent conclusion.Mainly affected by the different dimension definitions of parents participating and the limitations of the selected sample in each study.This paper focuses on parents' participation in the student's learning process.Based on the data from the China Education Panel Survey(CEPS)2013-2014,it analyzes the impact of junior high school students' parental involvement on student achievement in Chinese,mathematics,and English.In the empirical analysis,parents participate have three dimensions:parental expectations,family supervision(parents' supervision and guidance of their children's homework),and the communication between home and school(parents contact and communicate with school to know about the child's performance at school).The model uses school fixed effects to control the impact of school characteristics and unobservable factors on the regression results.Because students' unobservable factors influence the scores of Chinese,mathematics,and English at the same time,the perturbation terms of the three equations should be related,so a seemingly unrelated regression analysis is used.The analysis of the total sample shows that the parents'expectations include the recent expectations of student class positions and the long-term expectation of the students,level of education,which has a significant positive impact on the student's grades.Parental supervision includes parents checking and instructing students' homework.The overall impact on students'academic performance is negative.This negative effect may be due to improper methods adopted by parents in supervision,resulting in students over-reliance or confusion,but the negative impact of parents checking homework is not robust.Parents' participation in parents' meeting has a positive effect on students' Chinese and English scores,and has no significant effect on mathematics scores.However,parents' participation in parents' meeting influences on students' mathematics and English results are not robust.From this we can see that mathematics and English have shown strong academic characteristics,and have raised higher abilities and method requirements for parental participation.The quantile regression analyzed the effect of parental involvement on students with different academic achievement,and concluded that the effect of parental expectation and parental review on students'grades showed a declining trend as quantiles increased.From the group regression analysis,it can be seen that parental involvement has a more pronounced effect on boys'academic performance than girls.Parental expectations in urban schools have a greater positive effect on the achievement of students in all subjects than rural schools.According to the research conclusions,this article puts forward relevant suggestions and countermeasures:First of all,parents should attach importance to the participation in the student's academic education and put forward reasonable expectations for students through appropriate communication methods.Secondly,parents should pay attention to individual differences when supervising students'homework,take targeted measures according to their character and learning ability,and grasp the degree of participation.In the end,the school should actively enrich the form of activities of home-school cooperation.The government must also promote the perfection of home-school cooperation and form a complete system for the effective participation of parents in the student's academic education.
