In recent years, more and more experts and scholars have devoted their energies to textbook illustration studies. Most of these studies are mostly on the macro level to evaluate and study the picture quality and function of the entire textbook, and most of the teachers use textbook illustrations. This study uses text analysis, questionnaires and other research methods to sort out the function and classification of illustrations in textbooks, and proposes dimensions and standards for quality assessment of illustrations;this paper applies them to the compulsory edition of the PEP Chemistry Textbook 1 Chapter 1(from experimental chemistry)and Chapter 3(Metals and their compounds)text analysis;Design survey tools to investigate the use of high school chemistry textbook illustrations.Based on the above research, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The number of conceptual illustrations is less than the number of elements and their compound illustrations;(2)Teachers and students evaluate the concept-like illustrations more highly and use more, and the elements and their compounds The illustrations are evaluated on the low side and used less;(3)Photographic illustrations of experimental instruments,photo-like illustrations of experimental manipulations, schematic illustrations of experimental manipulations have been evaluated for higher and more use, illustrations of matter and structure particles,Chemical and technological social life illustrations, illustrations of history of chemical sciences, illustrations of chemical experimental drugs, etc.need to be consolidated;(4)Illustrations do a better job of reflecting specific textbook knowledge goals and conveying information without scientific errors, but The color and composition aspects need to be strengthened;(5)Students and teachers agree that Figure 3-14(metal flame reaction),1-19(solution process for formulating the concentration of certain substances),3-19(to The KSCN solution was dropped into the FeCl2 solution, and the KSCN solution was added dropwise to the FeCl2 solution.)The quality of the KSCN solution was better.Inset 3-4(cuts the metallic sodium, the silver surface of the sodium will Fade),3-24(recyclable aluminum beverage cans),1-5(desalination plants)mass relatively badly.Based on the above conclusions, the following suggestions are given:(1)Improve teachers' understanding of textbook illustrations.Teachers should seriously study the chemistry curriculum standards and establish a correct teaching concept, not only for examinations, but also examine textbook illustrations from multiple perspectives, explore the multiple functions of teaching based on the core qualities of chemistry,and(2)improve the use of illustrations.space.Before class, teachers and students should try to find the relevant knowledge on the Internet as much as possible. In the classroom, try to follow the value of the illustrations as much as possible.Use illustrations as an inspiration point after class to expand related knowledge as much as possible;(3)Improve textbook illustrations. The sense of design. When editing the illustrations, you should keep pace with the times and select illustrations that reflect the latest achievements of the discipline, which are appropriate to the teaching content, are colorful, and have high definition.
