As the supplement and application of intensive reading,skimming texts has its special significance in the Chinese textbooks for primary school.This article first sorts out the related problems in skimming teaching practice of elementary Chinese.Secondly,it integrates various theories and views of skimming at home and abroad and redefines the conceptual meaning of skimming on the basis of the New Curriculum Standards of elementary Chinese teaching and numerous researches of teaching reading practice and surveys of skimming teaching practice in senior classes of elementary school.Thirdly,given from the teaching philosophy of skimming,it clearly divides the function of skimming in the teaching practice of Chinese reading in primary school.In this paper we take The Affiliated Primary School of Fujian Normal University as an example and deeply analyze the root cause of the present teaching situation of skimming in elementary Chinese.According to the application principles of skimming theories in elementary Chinese teaching,four teaching strategies presented in this article have practical benefits.Also,combined with the concrete analysis of four kinds of skimming text in skimming teaching,this paper has refined the goal,optimized the strategy and enriched the content of skimming teaching.Skimming theories of elementary Chinese teaching not only play a part in the innovation of skimming teaching conception for Chinese teachers in primary school,the improvement of students' reading competence and students' closer approach to reading,but play a greater role in skimming teaching practice of elementary Chinese.
