Liang Shuming,praised as “the master of Sinology”,was not only a great thinker and educationist in Chinese modern history,but a fearless social activist and patriotic democrat.Spending all his life carrying forward Confucianism,he also devoted his care to village development and peasants' survival.Village is the key stage for him,as a leader of village construction movement,to conduct lifelong researches and activities,and peasant is the key subject of his concern and support,one of the roles he spoke for.In order to solve the “spiritual bankruptcy” of peasants,he worked hard on finding a spiritual approach that could encourage peasants to take a more positive attitude.As a Confucian who acted according to his words,Liang Shuming's showed a high-degree unification of thoughts and behaviors at a moral level.His efforts to explore the moral education ideology and absorb the essence during the village construction prove vital to the construction of today's socialistic village and cultivation of socialist culture and ethics.Four chapters constitute this paper:Chapter I: Discussing the historical circumstances and theoretical origin of Liang Shuming's ideology.Liang Shuming's devoted himself to the village construction movement,in hope of “reviving the rural area”.His ideology can be traced back to a chain of factors at that time.Except for the factor of epoch,his ideology can also be attributed to the massive and profound theoretical accumulation in ancient times.At last,it analyzes the development context of his ideology,sorts out its evolving process and lays a foundation for the subsequent parts to seize such ideology.Chapter II: Focusing on the main content and basic characteristic of Liang Shuming's ideology.Through reading Liang Shuming's relevant books,especially the theory outline during the village construction,it explains the spirit of local rules guided by “positive life”,spiritual cultivation focusing on “profound heart and big ambition” and altruism in the “group & myself idea”.On this basis,it concludes the orientation of moral education,motive of reliance and basic characteristic of the object.Chapter III: Focusing on the practice process of Liang Shuming's ideology.Known as a Confucian of action,Liang Shuming's had also put his moral educationideology into practice through effective carrier and specific methods.In light of the special structure in village at that time,he decided to implement his moral education ideology through rural organization,school lecture and morning meeting by means of a series of specific methods including learning from teachers and friends,self-retrospection and anatman.Chapter IV: Aiming to provide suggestions for construction of the new rural area today.Liang Shuming's 's village construction was forced to halt due to both internal and external factors at that time,but his theory proves a great contribution to village construction.Therefore,it's quite necessary to make a objective evaluation.In addition,the purpose of studying his moral education ideology in village is to find the theoretical backup and solution to the difficulty in rural area,and to provide feasible suggestions to peasant's ideological and political education in combination with the core of Liang Shuming's ideology based on the status quo in rural area.
