The development of Liang Shuming's rural education theory is related to its culture. Liang believed in Confucianism and supported the Chinese civilization, so he thought on the one hand Western civilization destructed China's progress, on the other hand, China need Western democracy and science if we want to rejuvenate China. At that time, China's rural areas were undergoing economic recession, destruction of villages, and the separation of ethics-based professional, social and cultural imbalance. Such circumstances, together with his own analysis of the Chinese culture, Liang Shuming formed his rural education theory, which left us a precious and spiritual wealth. Liang Shuming's rural education ideas include creating a new culture in order to revive the old rural areas, using school community in order to reconcile the East and West, and combining rural education with rural construction. Liang Shuming's rural education theory was formed by exploring the four aspects of the main purposes of rural schools, the organizational structure, the function and the teaching content, which achieved corresponding results. First, by using school to organize society, the rural society had been improved; second, by improving the living standard rationally, the development of production had been promoted; third, based on the diversified forms of rural education, the quality of the villagers had been ungraded. Under the new historical circumstances, Liang Shuming's rural education theory can be applied to build the socialist new countryside. First, we can integrate effective resources of new rural reconstruction, use schools to organize society and construct a rural learning organization; second, we can rely on the strength of the rural knowledge (teachers) to awaken the awareness of the farmers; third, we can use the spirit of Chinese traditional ethics and morality as the foundation to enhance rural civilization; fourth, encouraged by the rational spirit of modern science, we can promote the production and development.
