Both self-Learning and project-based courses are significant topics in educational research nowadays.We first discuss the theories of the autonomous learning ability and the project-based teaching,which include the related concepts of curriculum,projects,project curriculum,self-study,autonomous learning abilities,related research review and theoretical basis in this paper.Then,the paper tries to cultivate the autonomous learning ability among students through applying the Website Design and Development Course in teaching process.The selected subjects were studied and the teaching practice was carried out for one semester.Students’ autonomous learning abilities have been tested before implement,with the way of questionnaire survey and statistical data analysis,thus drew some following conclusions: the poor status of students’ autonomous learning abilities,besides,selfregulated learning ability,self-regulated learning psychology and self-learning behaviors need to be strengthened,too,so as to confirm the feasibility study of implementation.Based on the above problems,the studies formulate a series of specific training programs: students are required to learn by themselves before class through the network platform,completing projects during the class and reflecting and summarizing after class.Meanwhile,students need to review and extend what they have learned.After the implementation of the course,the effect of the curriculum implementation is analyzed by means of questionnaires,interviews with students and students’ reflective materials.The practice shows that the teaching mode of project-based curriculum in colleges can strengthen the self-management abilities among the students,which prominently presented in plan of the learning schedule,implementation and evaluation etc.In addition,the course also enhance students’ autonomous learning psychology,inspire their learning motivation and behaviors as well,especially in the way of solving problems encountered in learning process independently.Therefore,it can be said that the teaching mode of project-based curriculum in colleges has explored a new path for cultivating the capacity of self-learning.The research confirms the hypothesis of project teaching can cultivate students’ autonomous learning ability,Web Design and Development Project Curriculum is helpful for students to foster their autonomous learning abilities,which has been significantly improved,at the same time,the course has been recognized by a good parts of students.Very few students,however,think that too much spare time has been taken up by the course,thus have some bad effects on other subjects.
