John Keller,a professor in Florida State University of America,developed ARCS(Attention,Relevance,Confidence,Satisfaction)model of motivational design in1984.This model regards motivation as the key factor of learning and claims that motivating and keeping learning motivation should be the clue of instructional design.In this thesis the application of ARCS motivational design model in the senior chemistry teaching is researched to enhance learning motivation and then improve learning ability for middle school students.At first,the basic feature,the connotation and design method of both teaching mode and teaching strategies for ARCS motivational design are analyzed in this thesis.On the basis of investigation and analysis of the current situation of high school students' chemistry learning motivation,the case analysis and the design of teaching process on "non-mental and its compounds" in PEP text book are implemented using ARCS motivation design model.Further the application of the teaching process designed in this research is practiced in high school chemistry teaching to investigate its effectiveness.The main research contents are as follows:(1)This paper analyzes the current situation of chemistry learning motivation of high school students through the chemical learning motivation questionnaire,and the differences between male and female students as well as different classes were eompared.(2)The teaching cases on "non-mental and its compounds" in PEP text book has been designed according to the students' learning motivation,and the motivational strategies.(3)Apply teaching eases designed in this research to practice,explore the influences of ARCS motivational design model on the promotion of chemistry learning motivation.The research results show that chemistry teaching design based on ARCS model can effectively improve students' chemistry learning motivation.Especially it is a better effect for these students possessed low level motivation.
