In vocational college teaching, the level of students’ learning motivation affects students’ academic performance and teaching effectiveness of teachers. Especially in the course of public teaching, such as “Basics of computer application ”,the problem that teachers often face is that students are not interested in the study of this course. In this case, an important task for teachers is to use relevant methods to stimulate students’ learning motivation and improve teaching quality.Since Professor Keller,the American professor of psychology at the University of Florida,put forward the ARCS motivational design model,trans-reginal and intercultural case study of ARCS has been applied in the education filed in many countries, guaranteeing the effectiveness of this model, and proving this model can improve and maintain students’ learnning motivation when it is applied in educational parctice.This paper reorganizes the studies of ARCS motivational design model at home and abroad and involves a brief introduction to the relevant theory. According to the four categories of ARCS Model of motivation design,questionnaire analysis about vocational students’ learning motivation to “ Basics of computer application ”is designed.According to the analysis of the course content and teaching materials,focusing on the teaching situation and problems need to be solved,Motivational strategies can be applied in teaching procedure are designed,teaching experiments and analysis to students’ emotional level of motivation are carried out,the practicability and effectiveness of this model to be applied in “Basics of computer application ” is proved.And this paper also proved ARCS motivational design model can coach teaching practice effectively,break through teaching crux effectively, improve and maintain students’ learning motivation at the same time.
