China began to enter into an aging society in 2000.Compared with cities, the aging degree of the rural population is higher, but the social security system is relatively weak. The rural elderly are still mainly supported by family support, mainly relying on their children's intergenerational economic support.Different intergenerational support modes have different effects on the labor supply of the rural elderly.Under the support-type intergenerational support mode, the elderly can choose to depend on their children's economic support to live and withdraw from the labor market. However, the appearance of the phenomenon of children gnawing on the elderly, the maintenance-type intergenerational support mode, causes a large number of rural elderly old and endlessly, there is even the phenomenon of overwork and work with illness. The study found that the rural elderly labor supply is based on the family to make rational and economic factors, the existing literature major general intergenerational economic support and the rural elderly labor supply as a system, the research of the rural elderly endowment problem, based on the generation of economic support as a starting point, unique research perspective is the main innovation points. This paper studies the influence of two-way intergenerational economic support on the labor supply of rural elderly and explores its influencing mechanism.Under the effect of exchange motivation and crowding-out effect, will the labor supply of the rural elderly decrease in the mode of intergenerational support? Under the effect of altruistic motive and forced effect, will the rural elderly increase the labor supply in the model of fostering-type intergenerational support? In this paper, the 2015 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study data were used, and Stata10 was used for Logistic regression and multiple linear regression. The conclusions of this paper are as follows: Firstly, the economic support provided by children to their parents does not affect the labor participation of the elderly in rural areas.Secondly, with the increase of financial support provided by children to their parents, the working time of the rural elderly will decrease.Provisional intergenerational support model promotes the rural elderly to reduce the labor supply.Thirdly,if parents provide intergenerational financial support to their children,it will increase the labor participation tendency of the rural elderly.Fourthly, with the increase of financial support provided by parents to their children, the working time of the elderly in rural areas will be prolonged. The fostering intergenerational support mode, namely the phenomenon of "gnawing on the old",increases the labor supply for the rural elderly.Fifthly, the influence of foster intergenerational support mode on rural elderly labor supply is greater than that of supply intergenerational support mode on rural elderly labor supply.Sixthly, the intergenerational economic support has a greater impact on the labor supply of the elderly in rural areas who are old and less educated. The intergenerational economic support has a greater impact on the labor participation of the elderly in rural women and the labor time of the elderly in rural men.Based on the above conclusions, this paper puts forward policy recommendations: first, the elderly in rural areas. In the intergenerational economic interaction,we should pay more attention to the rural elderly. The elderly should pay attention to their own welfare level, act according to their own conditions, and participate in labor moderately.Secondly, children should give their parents enough financial support to ensure their parents' old age.Children should be self-reliant and not be “NEET”.Finally,in terms of social support,we should improve the social support of the new rural insurance system and encourage the elderly to withdraw from the agricultural labor market.
