Traditional teaching concepts have had a profound impact on teachers for a long time.In the process of teaching English in senior high schools,they have never dug deeply and made good use of the initiative and interaction of students.Generally,teaching is only carried out through indoctrination.At the same time,the reading teaching has always been regarded as an extremely important teaching method and is widely used in English teaching at present.However,due to the lack of interest in the teaching content,students generally feel that the curriculum is dull and boring.English teaching has not been recognized and supported by students.It’s difficult to adapt to new teaching requirements.In order to improve the quality of education,the teaching concept is constantly updated and developed.The cooperative learning strategy is a very new representative teaching concept.After long-term development and continuous optimization,it has become commonplace around the world today.The teaching method is also used more eye-catching because of its outstanding advantages such as effectiveness and innovation.However,through in-depth research,we have learned that at present,in China,the outstanding teaching effect and teaching advantages of this teaching method have not been fully exerted in English teaching in high school,and further development and exploration are needed.In particular,the proposal of new curriculum standards provides a new development space for cooperative learning.In order to thoroughly implement the goals of the curriculum reform and earnestly improve students’ English ability,the article is based on the background of the implementation of the new curriculum reform,with the fundamental goal of improving student core literacy,introducing and giving full play to the role of cooperative learning strategies and educational advantages,innovative exploration.Develop a new model of English argumentative reading teaching in high school,fully explore and stimulate students’ initiative and creativity,break the current predicament of English argumentative teaching,and further improve their teaching ability and effectiveness.This article first reveals the inner meaning of cooperative learning strategies and comprehensively elaborates the content and meaning of English reading teaching.At the same time,experimental research was carried out with research and answers to two key questions as the starting point.The first is cooperative learning.Can this new method effectively mobilize learners’ interest in English argumentative reading ? Second,is it effective in improving learners’ reading performance? Since then,this article has completed relevant experimental designs based on quantitative analysis.Through the establishment of experimental class and control class(the former fully uses cooperative learning strategies,and the latter still uses traditional reading teaching methods),conducting a comparative experiment for one semester,and after further applied researching and analyzing the results of various evaluation methods such as questionnaires,interviews,and tests,it was concluded that in the case of senior high school English argumentative reading teaching,the innovative introduction and full use of cooperative learning methods can effectively improve students’ learning interest and reading ability.At the same time,it can help learners reduce learning anxiety in reading comprehension to a large extent,and guide them to use reading strategies scientifically,reasonably,and actively to improve themselves,and comprehensively and effectively improve the comprehensive ability of language,thinking,and learning.The innovation of this research is reflected in the following: under the premise of the reform of the new curriculum standard,the innovation of cooperative learning model is boldly introduced into the English argumentative reading teaching activities of senior high school.Through the cooperative learning mode and task assignment,students will further exercise their logical thinking ability,learn to sort out the framework and levels of argumentative reading.which helps to improve the ability of learners to read argumentative articles.And call on teachers to fully understand and attach great importance to the use of cooperative learning in future English teaching.At the same time,in the future,the author will continue to explore in this area,in order to obtain more valuable research results.
