In the high school entrance examination,the English reading score accounts for a large proportion of the total score.Reading,as one of the important skills,can directly reflect the students’ English learning ability.At the same time,effective reading teaching plays an important role in improving students’ foreign language ability,and students’ English learning ability can be more intuitively reflected through reading.However,in the actual reading teaching,the teacher focuses on the students’ vocabulary,grammar and other knowledge indoctrination,lack of guidance to student analysis discourse structure and content,reading class has a low interest,students’ interest in reading cannot be aroused,the students’ main position is not fully reflected,students’ initiative and creativity has not a very good development.Cooperative learning plays an important role in improving students’ interest in English reading and reading ability.Moreover,in recent years,the application research of cooperative learning in English reading has achieved rich research results,which provides certain theoretical and practical guiding significance for the subsequent research.However,cooperative learning is seriously formalized in the actual teaching application,and has strong subjectivity in the actual teaching practice.Its methods,procedures and requirements have not been clearly stipulated,and cooperative learning lacks the corresponding theoretical basis.There are few empirical studies on English reading teaching in junior high schools,and its effectiveness still needs to be proved by many experiments.This study adopts the mixed research method with the combination of quantitative and qualitative research,combined with sorting out,analyzing the collected data of questionnaire,interview and test in order to use more objective and specific data to verify the application of cooperative learning in junior high school English reading teaching,and test whether cooperative learning can effectively improve students’ interest and ability in English reading.In the specific teaching practice process,the questionnaire survey,interview and test method were used to analyze and test the practice results of the experimental class and the control class,hoping to enrich the English reading teaching through the research of cooperative learning in junior middle school English reading teaching.The study mainly focuses on the following questions:(1)Does the application of cooperative learning help students to improve their English reading ability?(2)Can the application of cooperative learning in junior high school English reading teaching improve students’ interest in English reading? According to the collection,collation and analysis of experimental data,it is found that cooperative learning can effectively improve students’ interest in English reading and reading ability.This study has some reference significance for the subsequent research of cooperative learning in English reading teaching.
