Translation Strategies On Investment Report From The Perspective Of Textuality

Against the backdrop of globalization,China has increasingly strengthened opening-up.In order to promote economic globalization,it is of great importance to attract foreign investment.This has enabled the soaring demand for Chinese-English translation of investment reports,which could brief the investment information to foreign investors and thus attract foreign investment.Based on the practical translation projects of Deloitte investment environment reports,this paper summarizes the textual features of Deloitte reports and their core textuality,and explores how to improve translation quality from the perspective of the core textuality,thus enhancing the publicity of the reports.The core textuality in this paper are selected from the seven textuality proposed by Beaugrande & Dressler(1981)in their book Introduction to Text Linguistics.Based on the core texutality(cohesion and coherence as well as informativity),this paper proposes two translation strategies.The first is to grasp the information flow by flexibly using cohesive or coherent methods,properly dividing information groups and sentence fragments,and selecting appropriate subjects.The second is to convey information accurately and clearly by streamlining information,supplementing explanatory information,and materializing or abstracting information.Through evidenced analysis,this paper aims to give a hint to professional translators on text linguistics and serve as a reference for the translation of investment reports.
