Effect Of Filial Piety On Pro-social Behavior

Pro social behavior plays a positive role in promoting the development of individuals and society,which has been concerned by psychological researchers and educators.At present,there are abundant research results on the influencing factors of pro social behavior.Some studies have shown that the family environment has an important influence on the formation of pro social behavior,but it lacks the consideration of specific cultural background.Chinese Confucian culture highly emphasizes the emotional connection between children and parents,and filial piety occupies a central position in Chinese families.Taking college students as the object of investigation,this study combined with experimentation and questionnaire to explore the influence of filial piety on pro social behavior and its mechanism.Three studies were conducted:In the first study,the cause-and-effect relationship between filial piety and pro social behavior was discussed by experiment.The result showed that filial piety significantly positively affected pro social behavior.The higher the level of filial piety,the higher the willingness of the subjects to provide pro social behavior.The second study examined the mediating role of moral identity in the influence of filial piety on pro social behavior.The research showed that filial piety has a significant positive influence on pro social behavior,and moral identity plays a partial mediating role in the effect of filial piety on pro social behavior.In order to improve the ecological validity of the overall study,study 3 expanded the study from the laboratory to the reality on the basis of study 1 and study 2.Taking college students as the research object,a larger sample was collected by questionnaire to investigate the relationship among filial piety,pro social behavior and moral identity.It was found that filial piety was significantly positively correlated with pro behavior and moral identity,and moral identity played a partial mediating role at the impact on filial piety to pro social behavior.This research explores the influence of filial piety on pro social behavior and the mechanism of moral identity through three studies.It provides guidance for pro social behavior education and intervention in China and theoretical basis for the inheritance and promotion of filial piety culture.
