The Effects Of College Students’ Dual Filial Piety On Pro-social Behavior In The Different State Of Mind

Filial piety is a very unique psychological and cultural phenomenon in Chinesesociety culture. It makes a great importance in the social life of the Chinese people.For thousands of years, filial piety has become a part of the National character of theChinese people. For the Chinese, filial piety is an important virtue in the people’sdaily life. Carrying forward filial piety is good for improving interpersonalrelationship and maintaining social stability. However, the past academic researches infilial piety, most of them are focused on the filial piety ethical value, which is one ofresearch theoretical issues, that pay little attention for the filial piety of the actual life,and how individual filial piety works in everyday life. Pro-social behavior is one ofthe most good moral character advanced by contemporary society. Help andcooperation and so on are its external behavior. It is not only the fundamentalpsychology of individual development and health, but also the establishment of thecornerstone of a harmonious interpersonal relationships. Throughout the previousstudies, there is rarely research that combine pro-social behavior and filial piety tostudy. Therefore, to study their relationships have a positive effect for people’s dailylife and contribute to build a much happier society. In order to understand therelationship between filial piety and the daily life behavior, we combine filial pietyand pro-social behavior to make an empirical research. We dig into the operationmechanism of filial piety in the social life of contemporary Chinese people, andthrough a different perspective to research filial piety.At the same time, this research attempts to discuss the relationship between filialpiety and pro-social behavior, combined with mood from the perspective of the socialand behavioral sciences.The college students are as the object of study, combiningexperimental design and questionnaire survey, using T-test, one-way ANOVA, backtesting, multivariate regression analysis and other statistical methods, and then,according to the results investigate the effects of college students’ filial piety onpro-social behavior in the different state of mind.The study found that:1. the overall level of contemporary Chinese college students’ filial piety isabove the average level. No matter mutual filial piety or authoritative filial piety, thehigher filial piety faith it has, the higher level of pro-social behavior it will be.2. The mood affect individual pro-social behavior. The pro-social behavior of theindividual who is in a positive state of mind is higher than the pro-social behavior ofindividual who is in a negative state of mind.3. The relationship of Filial piety and pro-social behavior of the individual ispositive correlation. The state of mind is playing the part of the intermediary rolebetween filial piety and pro-social behavior.
