This thesis which is based on the ballet music core theme, including themes' motives, structures and three kins of technique explains the meaning of the core themes. The ballet Daphni and Chloe is not only Maurice Ravel's representative work of large genre, but also his personal ballet music style of the formation of the foudation work, which is produced on the fantastic greek myth that is about shepherd's love, composed of vivid characters and exciting dramatic rhythm.Ravel was called ‘exquisite Swiss watchmaker',because his life style and arts are rigorous. This ballet has developed a strong structural logic with the solid support of the central tone,as well as the highly concentrated form of the core motives and the development of the core themes. This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter “An overview of The Composer and The Ballet Daphni and Chloe”,which introduces the aesthetic thoughts of impressionist music and Ravel's personal art style, explores the background of the ballet composition. The second chapter “Core Themes Composition Analysis”analyzes the core themes' formation in the perspectives of perfect fourth and fifth, augmented fourth and diminished fifth, major and minor second intervals. The third chapter “The Structure and Development Technique” explains the connections between the themes and the ballet's structure in three sorts of technique. The fourth chapter “Ballet Core Themes' Symbolic Meaning”that further makes a full explanation of the relationships between the ballet's implied Dandyism and composer's personal dandy style.
