| Jeux d’eau is the first masterpiece of Impressionist piano music that describes “water†with newtechniques, an extremely influential piece in the history of Modern piano music. This thesis elaborates onthe artistic features and the purposeful use of key touching and pedals of Jeux d’eau,a piano piece analyzeand composed by Maurice Ravel.The author consider these special techniques of composition require a change of interpretationregarding traditional method of playing, especially on the way of touching the keys and uses of pedals.The pianist has to use appropriate methods to describe the musical theme, to improve overall acousticeffects and vividly interpret the musical image of water.
