With the rapid development of economy,people pay more and more attention to the development of medical care related to their own vital interests.At the same time,health care news reports,as the main channel for people to know about the medical treatment,can help people understand the medical facts at home and abroad,realize the present medical situation and attach great importance to medical issues.This thesis is a report of translation practice,which is made up of 10 pieces of health care news in the Business section of the Washington Post,mainly concerned with the topics of the Affordable Care Act,virtual health care,medicare-for-all and so on.After giving a brief introduction to the background and reviewing the relevant literature,based on Katharina Reiss' s text-typology,the thesis defines the selected translation material as content-focused texts,which mainly convey objective and accurate information.And some specific translation strategies and translation methods are adopted according to the futures of the content-focused texts in the process of translation.On the basis of this,the thesis makes detailed analysis of the examples in the translation of medical articles,and further analyzes the whole translation process from the aspects of headlines and vocabularies and sentences.A number of methods are adopted,such as literal translation,free translation,and extension etc to achieve the adequacy and equivalence between target text and source text and realize communicative purpose.It is expected that the practice report can be of value to scholars who will study the health care news.
