Language is closely related to human brain activity and mental processes.Motivation,as a psychological phenomenon of human beings,is related to the reasons and reasons for people's actions.It can stimulate the power of people's actions and lead the direction of behavior activities,playing an important role of "driver".Reading motivation is an important branch of learning motivation.To understand the differences and characteristics of students and stimulate and guide the reading motivation of international students is an effective way to improve the reading ability of international students as well as the responsibility of teachers of Chinese as a foreign language.Starting from the theoretical perspectives of psychology,teaching Chinese as a foreign language,and second language acquisition,this paper took the most influential Wigfield and Guthrie reading motivation scales as the main body,combined with the existing questionnaires,formulated and modified the questionnaires according to the characteristics of international students in China and the characteristics of Chinese reading,and conducted a survey on the reading motivation of international students.The purpose is to understand the specific situation of the reading motivation variables of international students,and to get feasible Suggestions based on the survey results.The main body of this paper consists of six parts: the introduction part mainly explains the research background of this paper.Explain the research method,value and significance used in this paper.This paper focuses on explaining the reasons for the combination of reading motivation and high level Chinese reading for international students in the intermediate stage.The first chapter is a discussion of the related concepts in this paper.Reading motivation is an important branch of learning motivation.Chinese teaching for international students belongs to second language teaching,and Chinese reading for international students belongs to second languagereading.Therefore,this paper argues that besides the overview of reading motivation,theoretical overview of second language learning motivation and second language reading should also be made.The second chapter includes survey design and preliminary survey.Analysis of the investigation objects,description of the investigation tools,statement of the investigation procedures.In order to ensure the validity and reliability of the questionnaire,a preliminary survey of reliability and validity analysis was carried out,and the questionnaire was put into formal investigation after reaching the standard.The third chapter is the statistical analysis of the survey results.Through the analysis of the overall and various motivation dimensions,it is found that the overall motivation is strong,but the internal dimension structure is unreasonable.In the analysis of various dimensions,from the perspective of previous theories,it was found that the cultural background and gender differences of international students were related to the strength of motivation.Therefore,the analysis of individual factors related to intermediate international students was added in this survey.The fourth chapter is based on the investigation,statistics and analysis of the situation,combined with the specific situation of international students reading class,to draw Suggestions and inspirations;In the conclusion,the author reviews the research process and summarizes the deficiencies.Through the analysis of the survey results,the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)the overall motivation of the students in the intermediate stage is good,but the motivation structure is unreasonable.The external motivation was the strongest,and the reading score was the most significant.The internal motivation is the weakest,among which the attribution is the weakest;(2)in terms of the differences in reading motivation caused by individual factors,students at the intermediate level will have differences in attribution style,reading scores and cultural integration due to their different cultural backgrounds.Gender differences in achievement goals and reading challenges;(3)correlation coefficient analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between the Chinese reading challenge and self-efficacy of international students atthe intermediate level.There is a significant positive correlation between the reading performance of external motivation and reading competition,between the direct interest and indirect interest of internal motivation,and between the three branches of reading involvement: emotional involvement,behavioral involvement and cognitive involvement.(4)according to mode statistics,the overall interest is strong,but there are still some foreign students who are not interested in Chinese reading at all;In addition,by means of mode statistics,the overall self-efficacy of international students in the intermediate stage is in a medium state.This study argues that reading motivation as a subordinate branch of motivation,learning activities is to promote students reading,guided reading direction the important psychological factors,the intermediate stage of students reading in the reading is "essential" role in learning,reading Chinese as a foreign language teacher,understanding students' psychological characteristics,to improve the teaching strategy,stimulate students' reading motivation play an important role.
