Solitude of children is the topic that many researchers are very interested in.Some researchers regard it as social withdrawal, and think we should pay attention to this kind of activity or do something to reduce it.While others don't think so,they think solitude has its own meaning in our life.We should take different ways when we meet children from different subtypes of solitude.Researcher of this essay uses observation method and measurement method to discuss theory of mind and different types of solitude of children from different gender and different age.All the children in this research come from a kindergarten in Cheng Du.The researcher also considers the relationships between subtypes of solitude and theory of mind. The researcher find:(1)Boys' total percentage of solitude is higher than girls' total percentage of solitude.(2)Boys' percentage of solitary-passive is higher than girls' percentage of solitary-passive.(3)4-year-old children's percentage of solitary-active is higher than 5-year-old children's percentage of solitary-active and6-year-old children's percentage of solitary-active.(4)Percentage of non-play behaviors(include transition behavior, aggression behavior, teacher conversation and peer conversation)isn't correlated with theory of mind.(5)Gender and age of children are not significant with theory of mind.(6)Percentage of the solitary-active isn't correlated with theory of mind.(7)Percentage of the solitary-passive and the reticence are negatively correlated with theory of mind.(8)Percentage of total solitude is negatively correlated with theory of mind.In conclusion:(1)Teachers should pay more attention to the children who prefer solitude, especially solitary-passive and reticence.(2)Comparing solitary-passive with reticence, children who prefer reticence should be pay more attention to.(3)If children prefer different subtypes of solitude, such as solitary-passive and reticence, teachersshould take different ways to guide them.
