Since modern times,with the advancement of printing technology,the development of school education,the growth of cultural consumption,and the spread of modern knowledge,the books market has become increasingly prosperous.As the largest port city in the north,Tianjin’s book industry has also developed rapidly.During the Republic of China,Tianjin’s book sales agency were mainly divided into two major systems: bookstores and newspapers agency.Bookstores are mainly divided into the ancient book industry,the old book industry and the new book industry,and there are many unknown book stalls.In addition to local bookstores,bookstores in other regions also come to Tianjin to set up branches.The publishing and sales of newspapers and books,represented by the Ta Kung Pao and Yi Shi Bao,are the tradition and characteristics of the Tianjin books market.As far as the spatial pattern of the book industry is concerned,book sales agencies in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China were mostly located near the Old town,and later concentrated around Da Hutong.In the middle and late period of the Republic of China,Tianjin Quanyechang became a new business prosperity area,attracting Many bookstores have settled here,and they are concentrated in Tianxiang Market,Taikang Shopping Mall,and Quanye Shopping Mall.On the one hand,the operating status of the book sales agency is affected by the development environment of the book industry,and on the other hand,it is also mainly related to its business content and methods.The operating profit of antique books is very rich,but the risks are great;the new bookstore uses a more modern operating method to sell books,and sells small profits but sells more.On the whole,the bookstores operating the ancient book industry are gradually declining,and the bookstores operating the new book industry have become the mainstream bookstores,which is the development trend of Tianjin bookstores during the Republic of China.During the period of the Republic of China,there were many kinds of book in Tianjin market.Generally speaking,education books,literary books,and ancient books were the main types.In addition,Books on modern subjects such as law,politics,economics,medicine,philosophy,history,geography,sociology,psychology,music,and fine arts,as well as various other popular common sense books,also have a place.The consumer population of the Tianjin book market can be divided into individual consumers and group consumers.Individual consumers mainly include wealthy and leisure upper classes such as warlord bureaucrats and new knowledge classes such as teachers and students,as well as emerging occupational groups such as lawyers,doctors,journalists,and some ordinary citizens.They were the mainconsumers of the book market in Tianjin during the republic of China.Group consumers are mainly libraries and schools,most of which are group purchase books in large numbers.During the Republic of China’s Tianjin book market,the government set up a special organization to manage it and promulgated relevant laws and regulations to ban all kinds of pornographic and pirated books on the market.The Tianjin Nanzhi Book Industry Association assisted the government in daily management.
