Research On The Application Of Pedal In Chinese Piano Works

The pedals are often regarded as the soul of a piano.A pianist's ability to use the pedals can be measured by several factors,such as his understanding of the background of different works,the emotions during performance,and the performance difference of each piano.Since Chinese piano works are mostly adapted and composed from Chinese ancient songs,folk songs and traditional folk instrumental music,there are more detailed requirements to express the works' connotations.Therefore,it is worthwhile to discuss how to use the pedals to express the connotations better when performing Chinese piano works.Taking Wang Jianzhong's piano work Hundreds of Birds Worshipping the Phoenix as an example,this paper demonstrates the application of pedals in the piano works adapted from Chinese traditional folk instrumental music,hoping to provide theoretical support of this field for other pianist and music tutors.
