Nowadays,China has attached great importance to cultural communication.Lots of foreign tourists are attracted by profound Chinese culture, and come to China for a visit. As the cultural landmark of Changsha city,Hunan Provincial Museum is also an important window for foreign tourists to understand the progress of Hunan civilization and appreciate the mystery of Hunan culture. The translation of the museum commentary,as one of the important ways of publicity,is of great significance to the spreading of Hunan culture. This thesis is a report on the author's translating the Chinese text Commentary on Display of Mawangdui Han Tomb in Changsha, which was published by Hunan Provincial Museum in September,2017.As an important publicity material of Hunan province,it is a special text in archaeology and contains a great number of culture-loaded words, which is the main difficulty the author came across in the process of translation. The extracted materials in this report are translated and modified and proofread by the author himself, which ensures the feasibility and operability of the translated materials in this report. The thesis begins with an introduction to the background and significance of the translation report, and then it describes the translation process, including pre-translation preparation, text analysis and parallel text. The key chapter deals with the problems the author encountered and the translation methods he adopted in the process of translation. When translating this text, the author came across a large number of culture-loaded words, which are divided into three categories: natural culture-loaded words, historical culture-loaded words,culture-loaded words of cultural relics. In order to improve the acceptability of the target text, the author adopts a series of methods like literal translation plus annotation, transliteration plus annotation, and free translation based on Nida's functional equivalence theory so that the translation can be accepted by the target audience in a better way.
