With the continuous development of China's reform and opening up and the deepening of globalization,the number and scale of Chinese outbound tourists are increasing.According to the China Outbound Tourism Development Annual Report 2019 released by the China Tourism Academy,the size of China's outbound tourism market has increased to 149 million in 2018,an increase of 14.7% compared with 2017.Foreign language tourism texts,especially travel guides,play an active role in outbound tourist information acquisition and cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world.In this context,the translation of tourism texts from foreign languages to Chinese becomes very important.Encounters with Nature: 53 of the World's Must-See Destinations is a travel guide edited by Italian writer Gianni Morelli.The book introduces natural landscapes,traffic conditions,history and culture of 53 natural attractions around the world.This practice report selects its excerpts as the case of translation,analysis and summary.This practice report is composed of 4 chapters.Chapter 1 introduces the source,the requirements,and the significance of the task.Chapter 2 is the description of the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translation process and post-translation review.In Chapter 3,from the perspective of Skopos theory,the specific applications of translation methods for words and sentences are analyzed.Chapter 4 summarizes the achievements and shortcomings of this practice.This practice finds that Skopos theory can play a guiding role in the translation practice of travel guides and can solve some practical problems in the translation.It is hoped that this practice report can provide some experience and help for the translation of other travel guides in the future.
