Department of Higher Education of College English syllabus points out that the purpose of college English teaching is to train students to have strong reading ability,certain listening ability and preliminary writing and speaking ability in 2007.College English course is a part of humanistic education in colleges,which has the feature of instrument and humanity.College English Course Teaching Requirements points out that the purpose of college English teaching is to cultivate students’ strong reading ability.English reading skill is an important skill to obtain language information,an important factor to measure the comprehension ability of English learners.However,most English teachers take the traditional teaching mode of "teacher-centered,textbook centered,and grammar-centered" in College English Reading teaching,and students accept language knowledge passively.This teaching model and dull and boring classroom teaching atmosphere lead to a decline in students’ interest in learning and poor teaching effect.Under the trend of Internet + education,how to analyze the characteristics of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning,how to improve the current teaching methods with the help of the Internet,and how to improve students’ practical ability of using English language are the problems explored in this study.The author analyzes the current situation,especially the existing problems of college English teaching in two classes of Northwest Minzu University,and applies the cooperative learning model based on E-learning in the college English reading classroom teaching in order to change the learning environment of students,guide the learning concept,innovate the learning method and improve students’ interest in English learning and academic performance.Therefore,this research aims to study the following two questions:1.Can the cooperative learning based on E-learning improve English reading achievement of college students?2.Can the cooperative learning based on E-learning arouse students’ interest in English reading?The author chooses sophomore of non-English major as research subjects,who are from two parallel classes in Northwest Minzu University.One is controlled class and the other is experiment class.In the experiment,the teaching materials and the teacher are the same in two classes.The different teaching modes were adopted in experiment class and control class.The teacher has adopted the model of cooperative learning based on E-learning in the experimental class,and the traditional teaching model and the 3P model inthe controlled class.Different teaching models and methods are applied in different classes.The experimental lasted 18 weeks.After the whole experiment,all the data from two questionnaires,four tests and two interviews are collected and analyzed by SPSS 16.0statistical software to test the effectiveness of the cooperative learning based on E-learning.After 18 weeks of teaching experiments,the statistical analysis result shows that cooperative learning based on E-learning can improve students’ performance.Students’ English test score in the experimental class is significantly higher than those in the control class.The interest of English learning of students in the experimental class is better than that of the control class.From the questionnaire survey of the two classes and the interview of the experimental class,it can be seen that the cooperative learning mode based on E-learning can improve students’ English interesting in reading.
