A Practice Report On The Cultural Investigation Based On The Interpretive Theory

With the development of globalization,the number of the inbound tourists in China grows annually.In this way,the tour guide interpreter is playing an increasingly important role.And it is imperative to improve the quality of the tour guide interpreter.The Interpretive Theory is a creative theory different from the traditional interpreting method of understanding and expressing and it is greatly significant in guiding interpreting activity.In 2018,the author participated in the “2018 Cultural Investigation” tourism interpreting practice hosted jointly by the Ministry of Commerce and Hunan University,and served as a Chinese-English interpreter.The author basically conveyed the speaker’s intention in the process of interpretation,and realized effective communication,so that the audience had a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the capital Beijing.But because of lacking of knowledge reserves,practical experience and theoretical knowledge,the author also encountered some difficulties such as difficult cultural loaded words,complicated sentences,four-character words,allusions,and long sentences in practical activities.This paper taking Interpretive Theory as the guiding theory and taking the difficulties the author encountered in the process of interpreting practice as materials for study,and on the basis of the characteristics of Chinese-English interpreting of tour guide,focuses on how to deal with culture loaded words,long sentences and ancient poems in Chinese-English guide interpretation.The author proposes strategies of simplifying,splitting and reorganizing,adding of logic words,and interpreting to improve the quality of Chinese-English tour guide interpreter,provide reference for interpreting research in future and make more researchers pay attention to the study of tour guide interpreting.
