A Study Of Shi Xiaowei's Literary Translation

Translation is not only about thinking and language,but also about art recreation.The study of literary translation is an important field of translation studies and an interdisciplinary study.Literary translation takes language as the medium,art as the form and culture as the content,and uses another language to convey the artistic attainment of the original work.In the process of literary translation,as the main influence of translation,the translator's translation view,attitude,and style determine the final effect of translation to a great extent.Haruki Murakami's novel The colorless Tsukuru Tasaki and His Year of Pilgrimage,officially published in April 2013,is known as "the most different Murakami novel" and "Murakami's breakthrough work",The Taiwan version of Lai Mingzhu and the mainland version of Shi Xiaowei also came out one after another.There are abundant researches on Lin Shaohua and Lai Mingzhu,the Chinese translators of Haruki Murakami.In contrast,the study of Shi Xiaowei's literary translation is rare.This thesis starts from the Chinese translation of Murakami's important work,The colorless Tsukuru Tasaki and His Year of Pilgrimage.Through the comparison between the translated text and the original one,as well as the analysis and comparison with Lai Mingzhu and Lin Shaohua's other versions,it discusses the appearance,translation view and academic value of the translator Shi Xiaowei's literary translation.The main body of this paper is divided into three parts:The first part is the introduction,which mainly summarizes the current research of literary translation and Shi Xiaowei's literary translation;illustrates the reasons for choosing The colorless Tsukuru Tasaki and His Year of Pilgrimage as the case to study and introduces the research methods.The second part is theoretical analysis,which is divided into three chapters :(1)Under the guidance of the theory of "domestication" and "Foreignization",this paper analyzes Shi Xiaowei's translation strategies from the perspective of translation strategies.(2)Based on Lin Shaohua's trial translation and Lai Mingzhu's traditional Chinese translation,this paper points out the technical features and translation style of Shi Xiaowei's translation.(3)Combined with the author's translation,self-created prose and public discussion,this paper abstracts Shi Xiaowei's faithfulness in art and literature translation,which is untranslatable and regrettable,and explores the multi-dimensional relationship between Shi Xiaowei's translation and his translation view.The third part is the conclusion.On the basis of the research on Shi Xiaowei's literary translation,this paper discusses the possibility and necessity of further research on this subject in the future.
