“Silk Road” is a unique cultural phenomenon,and it is the communication channel for eastern and western culture,commerce,science and technology and other aspects.“Prairie Silk Road”as reaches its heyday in the great Liao empire established by the Qidan nationality.The Qidan is located in the north of China,and rules over a vast territory.The nomadic mobility and the rule and regime of a single ethnic group enable the communication between the east and the west close,and the cultural integration is unprecedented.The paper is to study the cultural relics of the foreign culture factors in the Liao Dynasty in the background of the "Prairie Silk Road" and mperform systematic analysis to interpret the connotation of the cultural exchange phenomena between the east and the west in Liao Dynasty.The paper firstly sorts out and analyzs the tombs,pagodas,cellars and excavated sites and the cultural relics of the foreign culture factors reflected in the murals of the Liao dynasty,so as to provide physical materials for revealing the connotation of cultural exchanges between the east and the west on the prairie silk road,and to verify the prosperity of the prairie silk road in the Liao dynasty.Secondly,it classifies the cultural relics with foreign cultural factors in Liao Dynasty from three aspects: materials,shapes and themes,and discriminates the cultural differences between the form andconnotation of cultural relics with foreign cultural factors in Liao Dynasty and local cultural relics in Liao Dynasty.At the end of the paper,the foreign cultural factors and cultural relics discovered by archeology are combined with literature to demonstrate the important role played by the grassland silk road in Liao dynasty and its important contribution to the cultural exchange between east and west,and then the essential connotation of the cultural exchange between east and west in Liao dynasty,the historical position of the grassland silk road in Liao dynasty and its practical significance are discussed.
