Research On The Localization Of Comprehensive Chinese Textbooks For Beginners

Abstract/Summary:
In Chinese learning,effective textbooks are crucial for learners.This not only affects their efficiency in learning Chinese,but also affects their interest and love for Chinese.At present,there are many Chinese textbooks in the world,but in general they can be divided into two categories: one is Chinese textbooks edited and published by China;the other is localized textbooks edited and published by the host country.Taking the United States as an example,the currently most widely used textbooks in the United States are the two sets of localized textbooks: Chinese Listening,Speaking,Reading and Writing,and domestically published textbooks,New Practical Chinese Textbooks,which are highly representative and widely used.crowd.However,the use of these two sets of textbooks in the United States has also changed.From the 1990 s to around 2000,the predecessor of the New Practical Chinese Textbook,Practical Chinese Textbook,ranked first in the United States.However,in 1997 The finalized "Speaking,Listening,Reading,and Writing in Chinese" has been completed.In recent years,the number of users and the scope of use have gradually exceeded the "New Practical Chinese Textbook".In the latest survey of the use of textbooks in the first and middle years of American universities,"Speaking,Reading and Writing in Chinese" accounted for 62.9% and 59.8% of the junior Chinese textbook market,respectively.60% market share.Behind this,what has changed in the needs of users of Chinese textbooks in the United States,and what are the differences between the two textbooks,leading to this change,is a question worth studying.By exploring this issue,we can clarify the direction of writing Chinese textbooks for foreigners in the future.Therefore,this study focuses on the two textbooks as the object of discussion,and studies the localization of elementary Chinese comprehensive textbooks.According to research,localized textbooks are a major trend for Chinese textbooks in the future,and they will occupy an increasingly important position in Chinese teaching.By comparing Chinese Listening,Writing and Reading(Beginner)and New Practical Chinese,we find that the two sets of textbooks have similarities as well as great differences.In terms of different points,it mainly includes: first,the background of the textbook is different,the former is based on American life,and the latter is based on Chinese life;second,the textbook is different in form,the former pays more attention to the decoration design and fun than the latter;It is different in content and emphasis.The former attaches more importance to language teaching and the latter attaches more importance to Chinese characters and grammar teaching.In addition,the two textbooks differ in some details.Through the questionnaire survey of students and teachers,the two sets of textbooks were evaluated separately.On the whole,students and teachers are more inclined to the textbook "Chinese Listening,Speaking,Reading and Writing".Finally,combining the theory of textbook writing and the practical application of localized textbooks,this study puts forward some suggestions for the preparation of localized Chinese textbooks.
