A Report On Escort Interpreting At The Palace Museum

With the rapid development of China’s economy,international tourism is booming;therefore,the corresponding demand for tourism translation is becoming greater.Tourism translation involves not only translation of tourism publicity materials and tourism contracts but also interpreting for tourism services.In consequence,as an important mode of interpreting in tourism,escort interpreting witnesses its great boom.This report is based on the author’s interpreting practice at the Palace Museum on February 14,2019.It is divided into four parts.The first part is the task introduction,including the background of the task and the characteristics of escort interpreting.The second part is the interpreting procedure,which includes pre-interpreting preparation,in-interpreting task operation,and post-task evaluations.The third part is the case analysis,which mainly introduces the Interpretive Theory,analyzes the problems the author encountered in the interpreting practice and puts forward the corresponding solutions from the perspective of the Interpretive Theory.The fourth part is the conclusion of the report,which mainly summarizes the inspirations the author obtained in this interpreting task,and some reflections she made on how to further improve her interpreting skills in the future.The author hopes that this report will offer future interpreters some references and inspirations.
