A Practice Report On Tourism Escort Interpreting Of Luzhou Museums Under The Guidance Of Interpretive Theory

Luzhou is an important city in southeast Sichuan and a famous historical and cultural city in China.It attracts a large number of foreigners to visit and travel every year.To appreciate the cultural precipitation of a town in a short time,visiting a museum is the most convenient way.This report,based on the author’s interpretive experience for an Indian student who visited Luzhou Museum and Luzhou Laojiao Museum,describes his preparation,interpreting and post interpreting process and summarizes his gains and deficiencies exposed in interpretation under the guidance of interpretive theory to share his practice which might prove to be valuable for future interpreters under similar circumstances.In Pre-task preparation,the author collects the relevant information,makes a glossary,and uses different interpreting methods to solve the difficulties in the interpreting process.After analyzing how he coped with the challenges in the interpreting process,the author comes to the following conclusions:(1)In the escort interpreting practice,preparation before translation,acquisition of professional knowledge and collection of terminology,awareness of language style and cultural differences are the key to overcoming problems either expected or unexpected;(2)In the practice of tourist-oriented escort interpreting,interpreters,guided by professionalism,should first ensure the accuracy and completeness of interpreting and then adopt flexible language expressions and style to convey the information.The author hopes that this escort interpreting practice of the Luzhou Museum will provide references for other interpreters to promote the quality and level of escort interpretation.
