| This article has conducted questionnaire surveys and interviews with 873 overseas students from 51 countries studied in seven universities in Jiangxi(Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics,Jiangxi University of Science and Technology,Jiangxi Normal University,Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Jinggangshan University,Nanchang University and Yichun College)to understand and analyze the basic personal information of these students,the motivation of studying in China and Jiangxi,the understanding and identification of Chinese culture,and the factors affecting the identification of Chinese culture of overseas students.We hope to provide some empirical evidence for teaching Chinese culture as a foreign language and Chinese culture communication.In order to understand the Chinese cultural identity of overseas students in Jiangxi,we determined that the cultural identity of this article was divided into three factors,namely cognition,affective attitude and behavior.After analyzing the questionnaire data using statistical software SPSS24.0,we found that:(1)there is a positive correlation between the three factors of Chinese cultural identity and cognition,affective attitude and behavior;(2)the Chinese cultural identity of overseas students in Jiangxi is in the medium level.Among this group,35.91% have low identification,59.64% have more identification,and only4.45% have strong identification;(3)factors affecting the Chinese cultural identity of overseas students in Jiangxi include gender,age,religious belief,the motivation of studying in China and Jiangxi,the duration in Jiangxi,school,major,grade,the duration of learning Chinese,HSK level,willingness to interact with Chinese,frequency of Chinese cultural activities held by schools,frequency of students participating in Chinese cultural activities and life happiness.In addition,we also found that although overseas students study and live in Jiangxi,they have little understanding of Jiangxi culture.Possible reasons are the personal interests,the lack of attention of teachers or the lack of arrangement of regional culture.We propose the following strategies from three levels of government,schools,and teachers based on the factors that influence the Chinese cultural identity of overseas students in Jiangxi:(1)Government.Strengthen the activities and promotethe image of Jiangxi;establish overseas study service centers and build the brand of studying in Jiangxi;actively establish a cultural experience base to help the spread of Chinese culture.(2)Schools.Each university adjusts its training plan according its own reality;refines the management of overseas students and fully understands the needs of overseas students;emphasizes local culture and creates distinctive campuses.(3)Teachers.Establish teachers ’cultural teaching consciousness and multilateral cultural consciousness;explore teachers’ creativity and inspire the persistence of overseas students ’interest in Chinese culture;teach students according to their aptitude and seize the critical period of students;inspire the motivation of overseas students to learn Chinese and improve their Chinese level. |
