Negotiable fate can enhance the persistence of individuals in pursuing goals as encountering setbacks and doom.College students are in the “jointing and booting stage”,and establishing correct ideals and beliefs is extremely important for college students. Therefore, how to improve their negotiable fate has important research value and practical significance.Previous studies on negotiable fate have mostly used variable-centered research methods, and have not fully considered the category differences of negotiable fate, which would affect the integrity and accuracy of the negotiable fate study. The individual-centered analysis method can identify possible characteristics of different negotiable fate on different individuals, and explore the impact of these modes on different individuals. As an important statistical method, latent profile analysis can not only distinguish the potential characteristics of individuals, but also further examine the relationship between different categories and other variables. Therefore,in order to understand the situation of negotiable fate of college students and the types of potential profiles, this study recruited college students in the central region as the research object and used self-evaluation scales to measure, including negotiable fate scales and core self-evaluation scale and life satisfaction scale.Based on previous studies, this article examined the status of negotiable fate of college students in more detail. In the first study,we examined the demographic differences in negotiable fate, core self-evaluation,and life satisfaction of college students using T-test and analysis of variance. The research examined the relationship among negotiable fate, core self-evaluation and life satisfaction, and analyzed the mediation of negotiable fate between core self-evaluation and life satisfaction among college students. In the second study,we adopted an latent profile analysis to obtain a latent profile model of negotiable fate of college students. This study analyzed the different characteristics of different negotiable fate categories, and the relationship among negotiable fate core self-evaluation and life satisfaction. The results were as follows:(1)There was a significant difference in the negotiable fate of college students in terms of gender. There was a significant difference in the core self-evaluation of college students in terms of gender, only child and non-only child and grade. There was a significant difference in the life satisfaction of college students in terms of gender, family location, only child and non-only child and grade.(2)Negotiable fate partially mediated the relationship between core self-evaluation and life satisfaction.Core self-evaluation could influenced life satisfaction through negotiable fate.(3)The negotiable fate of college students could be divided into five distinct types: “ low negotiable fate type ”,“ lower negotiable fate type ”,“ moderately negotiable fate type ”,“ higher negotiable fate type ” and “highly negotiable fate type ”.(4)The five types of college students' negotiable fate had significant differences in gender and grade.(5)The college students who belonged to different groups of negotiable fate had different influences from the core self-evaluation.Moreover,college students with higher core self-evaluation had more likelihood of membership into the type with the higher negotiable fate.(6)There were significant differences in life satisfaction scores among college students of different potential types, high negotiable fate group had the highest life satisfaction, and low negotiable fate group had the lowest life satisfaction.
