This paper takes the works of Chinese artist Cai Guoqiang as the case studies which discusses the topic of the relationship between the regional and the global culture.And this paper also from the perspective of the local to rethink the ideological formation,cultural structure and language direction of contemporary artists.Therefore,there are three parts in this paper: firstly,this paper intends to take gunpowder,stone,Dahuaware,lantern,the forest of banana,dragon,boat,traditional Chinese medicine view,feng shui view as clues and it is further classified as “from object to image”,“cultural interpretation of regional codes”,“the way of thinking in eastern culture” to discuss the works of Cai Guoqiang.Furthermore,taking Cai's works created for " site-specificity " as examples,such as Bringing to Venice What Marco Polo Forgot(Venice,1995)? Saraab(Doha,2011)?Bunker Museum of Contemporary Art(Kinmen Island,2004)and Strait(TaiWan,2009),this chapter investigates how Cai construct the spatial flow pattern of globalization by means of the regional codes,meanwhile,how his works closely related to the local culture? history? emotion or memory,as well as the deconstruction and reconstruction of different cultures.Lastly,discussing the artistic theory of the "invisible world",this part will examine the following topics regarding Cai's works: “the world view starting from the homeland "," Life view that endows art with the therapeutic function "," the concept of civilization which co-create with the audience”,analyzing how Cai communicates with the “invisible world” via his artistic creation.
