Tibetan Buddhism is a part of the Tibetology and Chinese traditional culture and has high research value. With the spread of Tibetan Buddhism throughout the world, the translation of Chinese and foreign Tibetan Buddhist works is becoming more and more important. This study selects chapters II and III of Tibetan Buddhism as the translation material, and makes a study on the Chinese translation of Tibetan Buddhist works under the guidance of Hans Vermeer's Skopos Theory to explore the specific translation strategies and methods from lexical level, syntactic level and textual level. It emphasizes the feasibility of Hans Vermeer's Skopos Theory in guiding the translation of Tibetan Buddhist works, and provides more possibilities for exploring the translation of Tibetan Buddhist works.Skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule are the three rules of translation put forward by Hans Vermeer in Skopos Theory, which provide guidance for the translation of the excerpts of Tibetan Buddhism.Under the guidance of Skopos rule, the author mainly adopts transliteration,in-text annotation and amplification to realize the expression of Buddhist terminologies, cultural loaded words and proper nouns to meet the reading needs of the target readers;Under the guidance of the coherence rule, the author mainly adopts division, reorganization and conversion to deal with long sentences, sentences with impersonal subject and passive sentence in the source text so as to enhance the intra-textual coherence and realize the readability and acceptability of the translation.Under the guidance of the fidelity rule, the author mainly adopts the literal translation and paraphrase to deal with the large number of ancient Indian and Tibetan Buddhist teachings so as to enhance inter-textual coherence and increase the fluency of the translation.Under the guidance of Hans Vermeer's Skopos Theory, this study combines the three rules of Skopos Theory with the translation practice, and summarizes the translation methods and techniques of Tibetan Buddhist works, which has certain reference for the translation of other Tibetan Buddhist works. This study hopes to provide reference for the study of Chinese translation of Tibetan Buddhist works andto provide an effective way for the spread of Tibetan Buddhism.
