This report aims to summarize all the pains and gains during the whole process of completing the English-Chinese translation of the US Trademark Registration Procedure under the guidance of Newmark's translation theory.The original text is an expository text with professional,accurate,and logical words.According to the different functions of texts,this report mainly discusses the guiding role of Newmark's text-typology in E-C translation.First of all,the author makes a comprehensive analysis of the features of the original text.Under the direct guidance of Newmark's text-typology,some translation methods and strategies based on communicative translation theory are chosen,so as to convey the information carried by the source text seriously and accurately.The report also focused on the specific conversion process between English and Chinese.On the basis of fully comparing the similarities and differences between the English and Chinese,the author flexibly applied a series of translation techniques to achieve accurate communication effect,and the target language-oriented translation standard makes the translation highly readable.The report presents the main content from the following parts: in the first part,it gives a brief introduction to the purpose,the significance,and the layout of the translation project.The second part describes the preparation before translation,including the knowledge about the source text,the preparation of translation tools and the formulation of the translation plan.The literature review and theoretical basis are mentioned in the third part.The fourth part shows how translators can flexibly use a variety of translation techniques to achieve the flexible conversion.The experience,problems and solution are summarized in the last part of the report.
