Cooperative learning is one of the most important ideas in the new curriculum reform of English in China.The new curriculum reform calls to develop students' component comprehensively and individually.As an important foundation stage of compulsory education,primary school can actively implement the concept of cooperative education put forward by the new curriculum standard in the English class,which is particularly important.Group cooperative learning is the basic organization form between teachers and students and among students in the learning process,in order to accomplish a common task.Students help each other and cooperate with each other to learn the theory and method system to complete the task of learning.Group cooperative learning emphasizes that students play the main role in arousing students' intrinsic motivation;it highlights the personality cultivation and development of students,emphasizes the unique protection of students,and cultivates students' self-esteem and sense of responsibility.This paper firstly studies the related theory and theoretical basis of cooperative learning and summarizes results of the related research at home and abroad,which lays a theoretical foundation for the study of this paper.On the basis of theoretical research,what are the advantages of group cooperative learning in primary school English teaching? How does group cooperative learning improve students' interest,motivation of study and study performances? This paper uses the method of empirical research,through questionnaires,interviews and classroom observation.The fifth grade students of two classes in Sanshili Pu primary school in Jin Pu New Area are experimental groups.Experimental results show that group cooperative learning has a great help in primary school English teaching and primary school English learning.The enthusiasm of the children in the experimental group in the classroom is higher with the courage to express themselves in English actively.Students have more interest and motivation in English learning.Their oral English and academic record have been greatly improved.The students' learning atmosphere is good,students and teachers' relationship have been improved.The students learn to listen to others and express themselves reasonably.Mutual help and other learning habits have been fostered.This paper aims to study the practical application of group cooperative learning in primary school English teaching and provide more suggestions and references for the application of cooperative learning in primary school English teaching.
