Research On The Famous Prostitute Painters Of Ming Dynasty In The History Of Yutai Painting

In the research of art history,the research on female painters has increased in recent years.If we study Chinese female painters,we will encounter “the history of yutai painting”.Tang Shuyu compiled a book recording female artists in Qing Dynasty,which combed the general situation of female painters in previous dynasties in detail and filled in the blank of female history books.The existing scholars mainly focus on the gentlewomen painters.For another group of female painters,the famous prostitute painters,they have less attention.They do more comparative research with the gentlewomen painters.Even though,there is also a bias of advocating the gentlewomen painters and belittling the famous prostitute painters,which is unfair.In this paper,the famous prostitute painters as the theme of the study,in-depth understanding of the most prosperous period,Ming Dynasty prostitute living reality.This paper uses the comparative analysis method,combing,statistics and analysis combined with multiple versions of "the history of Yutai painting",reorganizes the relevant historical materials of "the history of Yutai painting",lists the most suitable literature,and lays the foundation for the further work.Using sociological research,this paper analyzes the increasing number of famous prostitute painters in Ming Dynasty and the concentration of regional divisions from the aspects of the government's policy on the brothel industry,the economic development of the Jinling area,the literati enthusiasm for dealing with famous prostitutes and so on.Using the method of literature research,this paper sums up the way of learning painting for famous prostitute,and the ability of painting can play a role in the process of promoting hooker to famous prostitutes.In order to maintain the reputation of famous prostitute,it is necessary to maintain good social activities with literati,gentlewomen and famous prostitute.In this way,painting can play the role of poetry,calligraphy and painting exchanges,gift sending and entertainment,and provide assistance for high-quality social activities.Then it is the end of the life of famous prostitute,that is,the demand for the home of famous prostitute.At this time,painting is either hidden or carried forward,or become a means of survival.Finally,by using the method of comparative study,this paper compares the works of famous prostitute painters of Ming Dynasty with gentlewomen painters the same era,and analyzes the relationship between Ma Xianglan's orchid theme and her independent personality.Compared with the works of literati painters,the image gap between Xue Susu's self drawn miniature and men literati miniature,reflects the feelings of talented women behind the knowledge-based prostitute culture.To sum up,this paper aims to understand the life and artistic reality of famous prostitute in the period of female prostitute's prosperity,focusing on the function of painting in their lives.What's more,I hope this paper can provide some reference for the later Chinese female art.
