In Chinese language education,Chinese characters have always been recognized as a major difficulty of teaching.Compared with phonetics and vocabulary,teaching of Chinese characters is still relatively backward.However,teaching of Chinese character,especially the elementary stage of Chinese characters teaching is of great significance.If we can grasp the essential characteristics of Chinese characters and carry out targeted teaching,we can lay a good foundation for students to form a proper perception of Chinese character and facilitate them to master the learning rules of Chinese characters.Whereby,in the long-term learning process of students,their learning efficiency of Chinese characters would be enhanced,and even their overall level of Chinese language could be improved.As a well-received emerging supplementary teaching approach in recent years,Micro-lecture is the product of the combination of education with multimedia technology and internet,which can effectively stimulate students' enthusiasm for learning and improve their learning efficiency.Micro lectures do not stick to traditional internal classroom teaching;therefore,it has broken through the limitation of time and space,which is very suitable for students to use “fragmentated” time to conduct learning or consolidate knowledge points,and through repetition to deepen their impression.Through analyzing the essential characteristics of Chinese characters,it is summarized the existing teaching strategies;starting from Chinese characters ability development requirements for the elementary stage of,it is considered that Micro-lecture can be applied to elementary teaching of Chinese characters.At the same time,from September 2018 to June 2019,I served as a volunteer of Chinese teacher at the Confucius Institute of University of Bahrain,where I was able to go deep into the front-line Chinese character teaching in local areas and obtained many first-hand information.In order to solve the doubts of Chinese learners in the elementary stage,the learning needs and cognitive level of Chinese learners in Bahrain Confucius Institute is analyzed.After that,taking the Chinese characters with the radicals of “?(tree)”,“?(sun)”,“?(person)” and “?(mouth)” as examples,the relevant Chinese character micro lecture model was designed and implemented in the Chinese credit class of Bahrain Confucius Institute,and has received periodic teaching evaluation and feedback.After gradual amendments,the issues that should be paid attention to in the design and implementation of elementary micro lectures as well as the characteristics of the micro lectures that have win favorable comment of the students were summarized.In brief,for Chinese character teaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language,while paying attention to classroom teaching,micro lectures are also suitable as an auxiliary approach to serve Chinese character teaching.It is hoped that the summary of micro lecture application of Chinese character teaching and the specialized design of the elementary Chinese character micro lectures will provide some reference for Chinese teachers and facilitate the development of Chinese character micro lectures.
