Features Of IoT English Terminology And Chinese Translation

Since the emergence of Internet of Things(IoT),China has always attached great importance to the development of IoT.Developing the IoT has become an important measure to implement innovation,promote supply-side reform and realize smart city.In order to research and construct domestic IoT,learning the foreign cutting-edge results is of important value.Based on the translation material of The Internet of Things: Enabling Technologies,Platforms,and Use Cases,this translation practice report analyzes and summarizes the translation of scientific terms.As a kind of scientific terms,IoT English terminology is professional and rigorous.In this report,the terms appearing in the original text are divided into two categories: Io T English terms with standard translations and IoT English terms without standard translations.As for the former,the focus is on how to select the most accurate translation.So it summarizes translation methods from three aspects—abbreviations,compound words and semi-technical words—to provide guidance for terminology translation.And for the terms,which do not have standard translations yet,it references the characteristics of terms and the existing translation methods of terms,then puts forward four methods: literal translation,division,non-translation and combination of various translation methods.Each method is illustrated with examples.It is hoped that the report can provide some references for translators who engage in the translation of scientific and technological literature.
