An E-C Translation Report Of Digital Transformation And The Internet Of Things(Excerpts)

The third scientific and technological revolution has brought subversive technological changes to the progress and development of the world.Nowadays,with the rapid development of digital information and Internet of Things(Io T)technology,digital transformation of enterprises is imminent,which is also closely related to people’s life.Thus,its development and the translation of related texts of science and technology have also attracted extensive attention.As an important document in the Io T industry,the translation of the English material titled Digital Transformation and the Internet of Things has its economic and academic value.This is a translation practice report on English-Chinese translation of Digital Transformation and the Internet of Things(excerpts).The source text is written by the Center for the Development and Application of Internet of Things Technologies Io T Thought Leadership Working Group and its collaborators jointly.It is a white paper on how the Io T technology can promote the digital transformation of enterprises.Based on part of the translated text,approximately 19,000 words,this report aims to explore the features of the text of science and technology and techniques used to ensure accurate and appropriate target text.Under the guidance of Newmark’s text typology theory,this report makes an in-depth analysis of language characteristics of the source text from three levels,namely,lexical,syntactic and textual levels,and puts forward specific translation skills through about forty cases.In terms of lexical levels,this report analyzes how to use literal translation,annotation or no translation to deal with terms,proper nouns and new uses with familiar words;In terms of syntactic levels,this report examines the passive and active processing methods of passive sentences and the splitting and reorganization of long sentences through several cases,and adopts methods such as addition translation,difference translation and sentence order adjustment to achieve the accuracy and readability of information transmission.;In terms of textual levels,this report mainly expounds logical and hierarchical connections between sentences and phrases to grasp the cohesion and coherence of the text,so that each part conforms to the genre and overall style of the text.The report tries to provide valuable reference for the translation of texts of science and technology through this translation practice.Moreover,the practice attempts to arouse readers’ attention on the translation industry of Io T and the digital transformation of Chinese enterprises.
