| The English-Chinese translation project report for a MTI(Master of Translation and Interpretation)degree(hereinafter shortened as “The Translation Report”)is based on the investment report entitled Towards A Blue Revolution: Catalyzing Private Investment in Sustainable Aquaculture Production Systems(hereinafter shortened as “The Investment Report”)jointly released by The Nature Conservancy(TNC)and Encourage Capital. The Investment Report states that the potential of the aquaculture industry is huge and investment in sustainable aquaculture will have a profound impact on the environment and on economic and social development.I hope to,through the translation of this text, contribute to providing reference for the sustainable development of China’s aquaculture industry, construction of ecological civilization, and expansion of economic and social benefits. The Translation Report is based on the first three parts of the original text: Executive Summary,Part 1 “Introduction”,and Part 2 “Market Overview,Production Operations, and Production Economics”.The Investment Report belongs to the informational genre in the field of environmental economics featuring rigorous and professional expressions. The organic combination between verbal information and visual images(pictures, tables and figures)renders the text more approachable and readable. Therefore,in the process of translation I try to ensure that Chinese readers have full access to the original information under the guidance of Skopos theory so as to enhance the accuracy and readability of the translated version. The Translation Report is divided into four parts. The first part is an introduction to the translation project. The second part is the translation process including pre-translation,in-translation and post-translation stages. The third part, the core of The Translation Report,is the case analysis,in which I elaborate on specific translation tactics through the analysis of the representative translation examples. The fourth part is the summary.I summarize the experience, inspirations and deficiencies in translation practice.I highlight two characteristics in the The Translation Report: First,it involves translation tactics concerning a large number of charts and second,it is out of teamwork with three members under the guidance of my supervisor after three reviews and schools. Therefore, this report also focuses on the strategies of chart translation, and discusses how to maintain the original chart format with the help of translation software “Trados”.As for teamwork,I also summarize how to strengthen project management on terminology unification, translation style and translation progress, and to ensure the quality of translations, with a view to providing reference for other translators seeking to translate the similar texts in the future.I have accumulated translation experience in the aquaculture field and improve my translation professionalism through The Translation Report. And I deeply understand the importance of absorbing specific background information of translation texts. |
