A Report On The Translation Of Towards A Blue Revolution:Catalyzing Private Investment In Sustainable Aquaculture Reproduction System(Chapter4)

This thesis is a translation practice report based on the fourth chapter of Towards A Blue Revolution:Catalyzing Private Investment in Sustainable Aquaculture Reproduction System.Published by the Nature Conservancy in June 2019,the aquaculture report points out the potential of aquaculture and the deep influence of investment on sustainable aquaculture on both society and environment.In all,the report aims to promote sustainable development of global aquaculture.The author chooses the fourth chapter of the report as the translated text and focuses on the aquaculture background and commercial prospects of different aquaculture systems,their respective environmental and commercial values,competitive demerits and risks,and factors affecting investment.The selected material text is 20164 words in English.And there is no available Chinese translation yet.As an environmental economic information text,its language has the following characteristics: precise and of academic style.The author needs to make the translation faithful as well as fluent.The author takes Skopos theory as the guiding principle and introduces the relevant strategies adopted in translation from the following three aspects: lexical translation,sentences and chart translation.In terms of lexical translation,the author adopts translation strategies like literal translation,annotation,contextualization and class shift.In terms of syntactical level,the author uses translation strategies such as segmentation,preposition to translate the compound and complex sentences and active and passive conversion to translate the passive sentences.In terms of diagram and table text translation,the author adopts class shift and omission strategies.The author has accumulated translation experience in the aquaculture field through this translation practice project.And the author deeply understands the importance of absorbing specific background information of translation text.At the end of the report,the author points out some enlightenment of environmental economic information texts,with a view to offering advice on the similar text translation strategies.
