As China continues to move from a large country in civil aviation field to a powerful one,foreign advanced management experience should be continuously introduced for the construction and improvement of its civil aviation management system.In this process,translators in civil aviation field,as a bridge and bond,also help to promote the development of China's civil aviation industry and achievement of being a civil aviation power.This report covers a detailed description of the translation process and methods after the author's translation of Flight Standard Information Management System Order 8900.1,Volume 6,Chapter 11,Sections 23 & 24,Safety Assurance System: Operator Fuel Tank System and Electrical Wiring Interconnection System.The source text is a normative document issued by the United States Federal Aviation Administration,which specifies special operating procedures and guidelines for operators when implementing assessment,inspection and supervision of fuel tank systems and electrical wiring interconnection systems.In view of the fact that the translation of the source text is prone to information redundancy,semantic ambiguity and logical ambiguity,the author,under the guidance of the triangular mode of interpretive theory,namely comprehension,de-verbalization and re-expression,analyzed the translation strategies of simplification,explanation,logical improvement and cognitive complement,and explored how to convey the information faithfully,expressively and accurately on the premise of ensuring the concision,formality and professionality of the target text.Through this translation practice,the author strengthened his ability to recognize,analyze,and translate such texts to a certain extent and hoped to provide a reference for the broad mass of translator to study the translation of normative text in civil aviation field. |
