| The "English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011 edition)" requires primary school students to initially use about 400 words to express the corresponding topics of the second-level provisions.Scientific and efficient classroom vocabulary teaching is the first step to help students learn English.Situational teaching method refers to a teaching method in which the teacher creates a real-life situation in the teaching process as much as possible,based on the teaching content of teaching materials and the reality of students’ life,to provide sufficient examples for language learning,so that students can learn in the real situation.On the basis of fully consulting the relevant research literature of situational teaching method,this study provides theoretical support for situational teaching methods from constructivism theory,situational cognition and learning theory,Krashen’s second language acquisition theory,and adopts empirical research method.The use of situational teaching method in English vocabulary teaching has studied the promotion of primary school students’ English learning.The specific research questions are:(1)Does the situational teaching method have a positive effect on the emotional attitude of primary school students’ vocabulary learning?(2)Whether the situational teaching method can promote primary school students’ vocabulary ability or not?In this study,100 students from two classes in the fifth grade of Ronghui Shapingba Primary School were selected as subjects for the examination,and were studied by means such as questionnaire survey,experimental comparison between traditional teaching and situational teaching,lesson implementation and feedback,comparative analysis of pre-test and post-test,classroom performance observation,classroom testing and so on.The research shows:(1)The use of multimedia means such as games,body movements,role-playing,group cooperation,sketching,songs,audio and video,and the various ways of theme situation actively create a variety of the context for the target language to make the classroom diversified in forms,rich andactive in links,which is conducive to the weakening of the mechanical exercise in classroom English teaching.Students consciously participate in classroom activities and actively cooperate to solve problems in English class,which indicates that situational teaching has a positive role in promoting the emotional attitude of primary school students towards vocabulary learning.(2)Situational teaching in the classroom through physical demonstration,video education media,games,group cooperation,questions and discussion,co-creation and other contextual activities help students understand the goal knowledge,practice effectively,memorize and apply to practice,effectively promote students’ vocabulary comprehension,vocabulary application ability and vocabulary strategy application ability,which promotes the vocabulary ability of primary school students.At the same time,the classroom vocabulary situational teaching has some implications for English teachers: teachers should give students sufficient time and space and guide students to communicate using the target language;teachers should be good at using existing resources and combine teaching content to create effective and reasonable activity situations;teachers should timely give students on-site guidance and on-demand to make the activity complete and smooth,so that students have some insight. |
