English reading involves the input and output of language and it's also an essential way in the process of English teaching.Nowadays,We have some troubles in teaching English,particularly in choosing the teaching method of English reading.Teachers' teaching methods mostly adopt translation method,the teaching process of reading is boring,and the teaching effect is not ideal.Students' interest in learning is not high,they do not master appropriate reading strategies,and their reading scores are not high.In view of the existing problems in senior high school English reading teaching,I try to apply the ESA teaching model to senior high school English reading teaching according to the requirements of the curriculum standards.ESA teaching mode is a kind of foreign language teaching mode put forward by Harmer in his works,which refers to the three elements of language teaching: E is engage,S is study,A is activate,through the flexible combination of three elements to form different classes,straight arrows sequence,boomerang sequence,patchwork sequence.By combining the ESA teaching model with the high school English reading teaching,this study explores the student-centered reading teaching method,and tries to construct the appropriate reading teaching model,creates the teaching activities that fit the students' actual situation in the teaching process,so that the students can master certain reading skills and consolidate the contents they have learned in time.This study attempts to address three issues:1.What is the status quo of English reading teaching for high school students?Is it feasible to apply ESA teaching model to high school English reading teaching?2.How to construct the specific ESA teaching model and apply it to the teaching practice in English reading teaching in senior high school?3.Is it effective to apply the ESA teaching model to high school English reading teaching?I take a class in a high school in Harbin as the experiment object,through the interview to the teachers and students before the experiment,understand the presentsituation of the English reading teaching,the attitude of the teachers and students to the reading,the teaching and learning method,and the feasibility of the ESA teaching model.In the three-month experiment,the teaching was carried out by the combination of ESA teaching model and English reading teaching.After the experiment,the students were collected and sorted out the students' reading results before and after the test,the results of the questionnaire after the experiment,the results of the interview and the results of the classroom observation,and the data were analyzed.Through the analysis and summary of the above data,I draw the following conclusions:(1)It is practicable to carry out the teaching of ESA teaching model in high school English reading class.(2)ESA teaching model can construct appropriate teaching model in high school English reading teaching and apply it to the teaching process.(3)The combination of ESA teaching model and English reading teaching is effective.Finally,I summary the problems and shortcomings in the experimental process,and put forward specific suggestions.
