Plurilingual and Intercultural education is a trend in democratization of education in the world in the late 20 th century. It is one of the hot issues in international education for achieving educational goals in the 21 st century and an important field of education. With the development of educational exchanges between China and the West, the translation of educational texts is becoming more and more important. This report is based on the book Guide for the development and implementation of curricula for plurilingual and intercultural education, this translated text introduces how to develop and implement plurilingual and intercultural curricula. It is an educational text, mostly using expository language, which is logical and descriptive with standardized format and full of accurate and precise words.Educational texts possess the function of conveying effective and accurate information.Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory meets the requirements of translation of educational texts. Therefore, functional equivalence theory is suitable for guiding the translation of educational works. The report aims to discuss the difficulties and solutions in the translation of such educational texts at the lexical, sentence and discourse levels and to summarize translation methods under the guidance of functional equivalence theory. At the lexical level, the translator mainly analyses the translation of terminology and general terms. There are three translation methods for the translation of general terms: semantic extension, the use of Chinese four-character,conversion.At the sentence level, according to the characteristics of the translated sentences, four translation methods are summarized, including linear translation,inverted-order translation, passive sentences into active sentences and sentence restructuring. At the discourse level, starting with its cohesive and coherent means, the report mainly analyzes the translation of discourses by means of substitution and reference. At last, the report summarizes the translation experience and deficiencies in translation, hoping to provide reference and inspiration for later scholars.
