Research Of The Death Narrative In The Romance Of The Three Kingdoms

"Death" is one of the important motifs of literary creation,the Romance of the Three Kingdoms shows "death" on a large scale and at multiple levels.This paper explores the death narrative art and its cultural connotation of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms,which Based on the classification and statistics of the dead and the types of death.This paper consists of four chapters.The first chapter uses literature review and statistical analysis to objectively understand the death writing in the Three Kingdoms story before Ming Dynasty and the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.First of all,it gives an overview of the death stories of the Three Kingdoms in the literary styles of Wei,Jin,Tang,Song,Jin and Yuan,such as Novels of person,Ghost Novel,Storytelling Novels,Poems,Prose,Opera and so on.Secondly,to objectively understand the specific content of death in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms,we divide the book into 5 story boards and 20 story units,count up 538 named dead,46 unknown dead and 172 group deaths in it and classify the types of death as natural death and unnatural death.Chapter two and three deepen the study of death narrative in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms which is based on dialectical application of Chinese and western narrative theories and methods.The second chapter discusses four aspects of the death narrative art of the Three Kingdoms,which are the death narrative nodes,the space,the time sequence and the rhythm.The third chapter studies the death narrative art of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms in three,which are the death narrative perspective,the methods and the language.The fourth chapter analyzes the spiritual and cultural connotation of death writing in the book in political attitude and death value of death writing through the research method of the combination of text interpretation and cultural interpretation.For one thing,we discuss the view of "supporting Liu and demoting Cao" in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms in the formulation of death,the murder story of characters appearing and the different description of "revenge and hatred" between Cao Cao and Liu Bei.For another thing,according to the arrangement of "beauty versus ugliness" in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms,we excavate the view of life in the book which is in favor of "sacrificing life for righteousness " and highly praising "Fighting to the death,Sacrificing for advice ".The novel not only pays high respect to those who take the initiative to die,but also uses death to punish those who neglect justice or fear death.
