Sanguozhipinghua is an important part in the formation of the Romance of the ThreeKingdoms. Their relationship is so intimate that it can be researched from four aspects such aschapter headings, poems, themes and figures. From the statistics we know that even though the chapter headings of Sanguozhipinghuaoffer less material for the Romance of the Three Kingdoms than that of Tongjiangangmu, more ofthem are adopted by the Romance of the Three Kingdoms than that of Tongjiangangmu.Comparing the chapter headings of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms with that ofTongjiangangmu and Sanguozhipinghua, we know that the relationship between chapterheadings of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and that of Sanguozhipinghua is more closerthan that with Tongjiangangmu, including the format and the meaning they convey, which adoptthe meaning of Tongjiangangmu and the format of Sanguozhipinghua. The quantity of the poems increases from the Sanguozhipinghua to the Romance of theThree Kingdoms. The poems in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms have more extensivesources than that of Sanguozhipinghua. The poems in Sanguozhipinghua are nongovernmental. It’s language format is simple and colloquial. But those in the Romance of the Three Kingdomsare from the ancient codes and history or famous poets and official historians. Although somepoems are from somebody unknown, they are still full of literati color. To some extent, thepoems in Sanguozhipinghua are folk narrative, while that in the Romance of the Three Kingdomsare literary narrative. That is the former are from the ancient codes and history, extensive andcomplex, while the latter are nongovernmental, narrow and colloquial. The thought of tiandaoxunhuan in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms comes from thethought of tiandaoxunhuan and lunhui. They both have the thought of yongliufancao, which ismuch stronger than that in Sanguozhipinghua. It becomes stronger from pinghua to the Romanceof the Three Kingdoms. The tragic thought becomes stronger because of the tragic ending of themain figures and the completely ending of the two books. The compliments are given to thefeudal elites no matter which region and group they belong to.From Sanguozhipinghua to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the figures are from frailto well-rounded, from blunt to lively. Sanguozhipinghua means to praise but blame figures andmeans to blame but praise the figures, which is its defect.
