The Phenomenon Of Rhetorical Word-Formation In Wuhan Dialect

Wuhan dialect belongs to the northern dialect system,but it is closer to the southwest dialects of Yunnan,Guizhou,Sichuan and Hunan and Guangxi in middle-of-south China.As far as Wuhan dialect is concerned,Hankou dialect is famous for the prominent position of Hankou town(now divided into three districts of Jiang’an,Jianghan and Qiaokou)in history and it is called "Han-accent".There are a lot of rhetorical word-formation phenomenon in Wuhan dialect.The author takes the dictionary of Wuhan dialect by Zhu jiansong as the main corpus source to define,search,sort and compare the phenomenon of rhetorical word-formation in Wuhan dialect.The author divides the phenomenon of rhetorical word-formation in Wuhan dialect into metaphorical word-formation,metonymic word-formation,exaggerated word-formation,euphemistic word-formation and homonymous word-formation,and classifies all kinds of rhetorical word-formation in Wuhan dialect according to their rhetorical characteristics.The metaphorical word-formation in Wuhan dialect can be divided into pre-metaphorical type,post-metaphorical type and omni-metaphorical.The metonymic word-formation in Wuhan dialect can be divided into sub-genera,and comprehensive genera.The exaggerated word-formation in Wuhan dialect is divided into exaggerated type,reduced type and advanced type.The euphemistic word-formation in Wuhan dialect is divided into disease and death,physiology and sex,society and life,and personality and appellation.The homonymous word-formation in Wuhan dialect is divided into homophonic puns and hidden puns.The author summarizes the psychological generating mechanism,form,meaning and pragmatic value of each rhetorical word in Wuhan dialect,and explores the culture of Wuhan port,food and commerce contained in the rhetorical word-formation in Wuhan dialect.The author compares the phenomenon of rhetorical word-formation in Wuhan dialect with that in modern Chinese and ancient Chinese from the perspective of "Mandarin,Dialect and Ancient Chinese",and tries to draw a general conclusion of rhetorical word-formation in Wuhan dialect,in the hope of providing help to the related research of Wuhan dialect and the research of rhetorical word-formation in other dialects.
