| This study explored secrecy’ s influence on advice taking from the perspective of self-protection,discussed the mediating role of avoiding social attention.Meanwhile,it included the evaluation sensitivity and the importance of secrets as moderating variables.In study 1(N=189),we set secrecy as between-subjects factor to explore the influence of secrecy on advice taking,and included the mediating roles of avoiding social attention and guilt in the state secrecy to explore the main effect and the mediating effect.In study 2(N=338),we set state secrecy and evaluation sensitivity or importance of secrets as between-subjects factor,the evaluation sensitivity and importance of secrets were added as moderating variables to verify the main effect and the mediating effect repeatedly,and at the same time to test the moderating effect of the evaluation sensitivity and importance of secrets.Study 3(N=350)studied trait secrecy(self-concealment),we set trait secrecy and evaluation sensitivity or importance of secrets as between-subjects factor,evaluated sensitivity and importance of secrets as moderating variables,repeatedly verified the main effect,mediating effect,and moderating effect.The results showed that:(1)judge in secrecy were more likely to take advice.When judge has secrecy,they would more avoid social attention,thus they would adopt advice more.(2)judge with high evaluation sensitivity were more likely to take advice.Evaluation sensitivity played a moderating role in the effect of secrecy on advice-taking.The moderating effect of evaluation sensitivity was through avoid social attention.(3)judge with high importance of secrects were more likely to take advice.The importance of secrects played a moderating role in the effect of secrecy on advice-taking.The moderating effect of the importance of secrects was through avoid social attention. |
